On the morning of December 5th, 2020, the "Strategic Cooperation Signing Ceremony between Beijing Normal University and IMA" and “Management Accounting Practice Forum", cohosted by BNUBS and IMA were held in Jingwen Auditorium. Guests present at the signing ceremony were the Vice President of IMA, Mr. Li Gang, Chief Representative of China; Professor Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS; Ms. Zhou Haiyan, IMA North China Cooperative Development Director; Ms. Wang Qian, Cooperative Development Manager; Ms. Tang Menghan, Marketing Communications Director; Ms. Miao Wen, Academic Relations Manager; Ms. Yu Yan, Deputy Director of the Audit Committee of China Broad Group; Professor Cai Hongbo, Associate Dean of BNUBS; Wu Qinhong, Director of Accounting Department of BNUBS; Teacher Li Yuxiao; Teacher Zhang Haiyan; alumnus Liu He and alumna Zhang Yueyao. They witnessed the formal signing of the strategic cooperation agreement.

The meeting was presided over by Professor Cai Hongbo, Associate Dean of BNUBS. Dean Qi Yudong spoke on behalf of the leadership of Beijing Normal University, he pointed out that the digital economy presented opportunities for the development of management accounting and the school would work with IMA on more substantial projects such as academic research, case competitions and academic forums. Due to the global COVID-19 epidemic, IMA senior presidents on the other side of the ocean could not come to the site. IMA entrusted Mr. Jim Gurowka, Vice President, to have a dialogue and send warm leaders' speeches. IMA also expressed sincere gratitude to Beijing Normal University represented by Dean Qi Yudong to meet and made a promise to create a better future together.

In the formal signing ceremony between IMA and Beijing Normal University, Li Gang, chief representative of IMA in China, and Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS, signed the strategic cooperation agreement in the presence of the participants.

After the ceremony, the Management Accounting Practice Forum was hosted by Wu Qinhong, Director of the Accounting Department. Ms. Yu Yan, Ms. Li Yuxiao, Ms. Miao Wen and alumni Liu He and Zhang Yuyao shared their practical experience in the field of management accounting, their research experience, IMA's support for academic and research, and their experience in the Campus Management Accounting Case Competition. The next part of the conference was the Scholarship Award Ceremony. After the grand award ceremony, Mr. Li Gang, Vice President of IMA, made a concluding speech, and the signing ceremony ended successfully.

Since 2012, undergraduate students from BNUBS have been actively participating in the IMA Campus Management Accounting Case Competition. In the past 9 years, more than 70 teams and more than 300 students have participated in this competition. Every year, several teams have entered the finals of North China Division and won the top three scores in North China Division for many times. In 2014, The Smart Ray team of the College won the national championship of the fourth IMA Campus Management Accounting Case Competition. In 2018, the Pentagon made it to the national finals. Over the years, teachers and students of the BNUBS have participated in the Management Accounting Summit Forum and Seminars held by IMA, and contributed their ideas and wisdom to the development of Management Accounting in China. In 2018, the School received IMA Higher Education Accreditation, joining the IMA Higher Education Accreditation Scheme for Management Accounting.

The signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between Beijing Normal University and IMA will provide a broad platform for cooperation between the two parties in the future and will surely lay a solid foundation for the future prosperity of Management Accounting education and research in Beijing Normal University and the Greater China Region. Through this grand ceremony, many Management Accounting practice experts go deep into colleges and universities to facilitate the exchange and integration of production, education and research. The positive social influence it produces will be of great benefit for generations to come.
